Casuarina cunninghamiana

Medium to tall tree with slightly pendulous branches. Leaves consist of small scales surrounding the stems and ‘whistle’ as the wind passes through them. Seeds are held in cone-like fruits and provide food for Black Cockatoos. Suited to average to poor soils either dry or moist to wet. Tolerates wind, dry periods, frosts and very cold conditions.
