A beautiful tall shrub that attracts birds and grows in well drained soils in full sun. Broad linear blue-green leaves with erect cylindrical, tapering racemes of pinkish red flowers borne in the axils of the leaves appear in winter and spring. Closely related to Hakea multilineata and Hakea coriacea (indeed, it was not until 1973 that Hakea francisiana and Hakea multilineata were distinguished as two different species). Prune lightly after flowering to encourage dense growth. Makes an attractive screen or feature.
